1. Our Product (SodaStream)

SodaStream

Hello, everyone! Our marketing product is SodaStream soda maker. How this device works?  Basically, it forces carbon dioxide  gas (stored under pressure in a cylinder) into water, making it fizzy. Then, you can add in the flavor of your choice to make your favorite drink.

Every device comes with a carbonating bottle. It is reusable and uniquely designed, so you can save up to 2000 bottles and cans a year using just one bottle. Also, every device comes with a Carbonator, it is the refillable gas cylinder that puts the bubbles in your drink.

We believe this will be a very competitive product because almost everyone drinks soda, and SodaStream makes it cheaper, healthier, and even more environmentally friendly. Just like people can make their own cup of coffee at home with a coffee maker, we want people to be able to make their own soda at home with SodaStream.

  1. My friend actually owns one of these things and it works really well, some of the flavors are almost better than the name branded sodas you find every day at the grocery store. I like this product and the fact it saves wasting bottles every year makes it that much better.

  2. This is definitely a cool product. i myself don't drink soda, but i know that most of America does so i can see that there is a huge market for this product. however, i am curious to know how exactly this is a healthier alternative to regular soda? That is if you are going to have that as one of your key selling points.

    1. Well basically it is healthier because you can have control of how much soda syrup to put into your carbonated water. You can even just drink it as sparkling water, which is the healthiest way to do so. We are not sure if the soda syrup itself is healthier or not at this point, but apparently it won't be healthier if you put a ton of soda syrup in it. Additionally, I have seen some articles online about how is drinking sparkling water good for us, and we will be doing more research on that. Thank you for your reply! :)

  3. This sounds like a useful product for those that enjoy soda but want to control how much syrup is added. My only concern is whether or not the product is difficult to clean and maintain.

    1. The home soda maker should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth using a non-abrasive cleanser if necessary. Clean the carbonating bottles in warm water with a bottle brush and regular dish-washing liquid if necessary.

  4. It's very cool product, as Huffington post says: nearly half of Americans drink soda everyday. as all of us knows soda is not good for us. So, I think you guys should focus on how your products can be healthier than others ( like create a syrup with Stivii), and show how much people can save by just using this product rather than buying the soda.

    1. Isn't the Huffington Post a satirical news story website. I don't think that this website would be credible, but I do agree with your point about marketing to people that SodaStream is a healthier alternative to other sodas.

  5. This is a really neat idea! I love creating and experimenting with new flavors and it is always costly to order soda at restaurants. The idea of having it at home next to my hot water machine and coffee machine will complete my meals with all the different beverages. However, many adults and teens now are leaning more towards watching their weight and calories, and have cut back on soda and sugar intake. Does this machine allow you to adjust the amount of syrup we can mix into our drinks?

    1. Of course. As "DIY" product, people can adjust the amount of syrup which is mixed into their drinks.

  6. I love this idea of a soda maker. I, myself, don't drink soda but I know a lot of people who do. My mother would love this product. Soda-lovers will be able to save so much money plus it's cool to feel like a mini-scientist concocting different soda flavors. My main concern for this product was that many are lowering their soda/sugar intake due to health risks;however, I read your previous comment from above and can see why this product is more safe.

  10. I definitely think this an interesting product. This is the first time I heard of it!

  11. Wow! So this product actually exists? I thought it was just made-up. :) Awesome! I don't really drink soda but I would definitely want to try it. How much does each cost? I love the idea of being able to reuse it and being able to save tons of bottles. I was wondering though, would it be possible to make drinks that are not carbonated? And how many flavors are there available?

    1. Hello, Rheana. This product is really really exist~^_^
Each will cost $80. I think you can just put flavors into your water and drink it, if you do not like your drinks are carbonated.
There are soooooooo many flavors :)

    2. Thanks Jingxian! Yeah, I'm not a big fan of carbonated drinks so if there's no water, I prefer drinking lemonade or fruit punch, etc. so it's nice to know that this soda maker can also benefit those who don't really drink soda like myself :)

  12. This product is actually pretty awesome. Truth be told it has potential to be a very competitive product. My only question though, is whether or not it is cost effective for the consumer to make soda at home rather than purchase it in bulk at any grocery store. For popular sodas it might or might not be worth it to purchase this product but if one is willing to experiment and create their own drinks at home then this could be very well worth it. As we talk about in class, everyone has a different preference and it would be difficult to make a flavor/soda for everyone in the world. With this product however, it could actually help consumers to fulfill their needs without the cost needing to be incurred by a company.

Sorry if that doesn't make too much sense, just the thought that popped into my head when I read your post.

    1. Hi, Chris~ Thanks for your question :)
To my point of view, this product is cost effective for the consumers to make soda at home rather than purchase it at any grocery store. The price of this product is $80 which is slightly expensive. But think about it, most people are willing to pay $100 for an annual pass to go to Magic Mountain or Disneyland. For a family of four, on average, it costs $20 per person to afford this product, and this is an universal product. Does it make sense? :)

  13. This is my first time to see this product. It is quite interesting for me. Nowadays, people drink a lot of soft drinks, and like you mentioned that it is more healthier. Healthy is a key point because people eat too much junk food. I think you can mention that why it causes more healthier in your marketing plan. Also, you can put the different flavors in it. That's awesome. Yeah, why not making a drink for ourselves, but I hope this product is not too expensive.

  14. I love this idea of saving money on bottles and save our planet. Can you give more information about the product, such as what is the product price and what is the lifetime of the carbonating bottle. I am interesting in how to clean the soda maker. Will it take a long time to clean? if not, it will be a perfect product for most of the soda lover!

  15. I have seen the same product at Costco. I have never taste the soda. The reason could be that I think is hard for a new product to have the same or similar taste as Coca-Cola or Pepsi has to offer to consumer.
